About Me

I am the Fish Culture Manager for the Province of Manitoba. I moved back form BC last year after being out of Manitoba for 28 years.  It was the browns that brought me back plus the Twin tigers.

Favourite lakes, Patterson/Tokaryk, Twin and Perch.

We will be starting to stock triploid rainbows in 2010/11 in select trophy lakes.  Triploid trout are sterile and do not produce eggs so they focus all their resources on simply growing bigger.  Since they also live a few years longer than our normal diploid trout they should be getting to quite a size compared to what everyone experiences so far.

Hey Grant,

That is great to hear about Manitoba stocking triploids. I wish North Dakota would follow your lead. I hope Patterson Lake is one of the triploid candidates. It was great to meet you this year.

Sounds like you?re the perfect guy to be moving back to MB. I have flyfished Henrys Lake in Idaho for 3 years in a row now because of the triploids. These are the fish that make Henrys Lake world famous. Having triploids in Manitoba is going to be amazing and really put Manitoba on the flyfishing map. If it's awesome now I can't even imagine how it's going to be with triploids. With what Manitoba is doing I do not think I will be making the trip out to Henrys anymore. The fishing is better in Manitoba now and it's going to be getting even better. It's going to be great to have a flyfisherman in your position with the Province.
