I am a beginner in flyfishing. What method would you recommend. I tried the false cast already and was okay at it. What method is the easiest for beginners and could you give me links or give me instructions on how to do it?

The water varies from 3 – 12′ in depth. I have an #8 rod setup with a large diameter spool. Will be up against various winds and currents. The flies are tied on #1 hooks and go up to 3/0. (Serious) Seeking advice on line & leader types from experienced fly fishermen. Thanks.

Im going fishing for lake trout in Muskoka region in ontario,canada. i was wondering how deep the fish are right now so i can use the proper lures. oh and if anyone can share any tips or baits they use that would be really great. thanks.

I’m an absolute beginner at fly fishing….I have just barely gotten the hang of casting and how to catch a fish…but now I want my OWN gear. I’ve only been on two fly fishing trips with others and I think I’m ready to head off myself once in a while.
The thing is, I would like to get a nice, decent rod for a good price. Do you have any suggestions? I have been told that those fly fishing kits you can buy are absolute crap.

It looks so exciting on TV when they catch all of the fish. Then I realize they’re showing highlights of around 20 hours of fishing. They’re lucky to average 1 fish an hour. It might be good for TV, but pretty boring in person.

I fish regularly but usually go for catfish and bass. Never been salmon fishing and would like to know a good spot for salmon in northen california.

I am writing a paper on how fly fishing is related to physics and need some averages in order to do calculations.
Average length of rod. I came up with 8.5 feet. Does this seem accurate?
Average mass of rod? Measured in grams, kilograms, or pounds.
Average mass of line and fly?
Average time it takes to move wrist 45 degrees during cast?
Average time line is in the air – measured from after wrist movement is done until the fly hits the water?
